It's time to fix the Primary system

Every day or two there is a new story about a state moving up its own Primary day to get an edge on another state. This is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is penalizing a state for doing so by disenfranchising it and by eliminating a state's delegates to their party's convention. This has got to stop! The time has come to fix this problem and nip it in the bud now! Here's what I propose.

On the 2nd Tuesday of January Iowa should hold its caucus and New Hampshire on the 3rd Tuesday of January. Why? Because it is tradition and tradition should stand firm at the beginning. Speaking of the caucus I think all states should select their nominees for President in this manner. The Caucus is much more of a grass-roots effort and it encourages people in the state to be more politically active. And that would be a great thing in my book.

That leaves 48 states left. At this point you divide the number of states by 12 (12 times 4 is 48). You divide the states into size of delegations. On the 3rd Tuesday of February you hold the Caucuses for the 12 states with the smallest delegations. Each 3rd Tuesday of the next 3 months you go up the list with 12 more state caucuses until the 12 with the largest delegations have their caucuses on the 3rd Tuesday of May.

You are probably asking why I came up with this. By splitting the them up evenly you even out the process and improve the supposed quality of the two party nominees for President. To be worthy of your party's nomination you will have to travel to all the states and bring your message to more people. Your message will have to have substance instead of being supported by mega bucks. Don't get me wrong money is definitely needed in the process but you will not be able to win by buying your support anymore. Also this way no state will be deemed irrelevant in the process like some states are now when several states will hold their primary/caucus after a candidate has pretty much clinched the nomination.

Unless we change this now Mike Huckabee's prediction will come true. Each party will be deciding it's nominee on Halloween with all the candidates going Trick Or Treating and the candidate with the most candy winning.
