Tommie Williams Backing Huck

(1/28/08) It seems that not all of the ex-Fred Thompson supporters among the ranks of elected officials are moving over to the Mitt Romney side. Tommie Williams, the majority leader of the Georgia senate, announced Monday he’s for Mike Huckabee.

Williams was one of the 41 top officials who last May signed that letter circulated just ahead of the state Republican convention that urged Thompson to get in the race and said they would support him if he did.

“I believe Gov. Huckabee is the clear conservative choice for our party,” said Williams. “He will articulate a strong conservative message of limited government, strong foreign policy, fiscal responsibility and a commitment to protecting life.”
