Walt Disney's animators were some of the best in the business. But not only could they draw well, they could play some mean Dixieland! Meet the Firehouse Five Plus Two! Animator Ward Kimball and others that worked at the Walt Disney Studios got together and formed a Dixeland Jazz band back in the 1940's. You can find out more about this famous outfit here. They recorded several record albums through the 60's. Though you are probably more familiar with them than you realized. They were not too proud to animate themselves into a Goofy cartoon.
I present to you for your viewing pleasure today a gem I found on Youtube. I certainly wasn't living when this aired originally but I remember seeing it when the original Mickey Mouse Club ran during the early and much better (In my honest opinion) days of the Disney Channel. The Firehouse Five Plus Two visit the Mousketeers!
While we're talking about the Mickey Mouse Club there's one more website I want you to visit. It's a must read for all fans of Disney and the original Mickey Mouse Club. Go check out Mousketeer Lonnie Burr's personal webpage (you saw him in the vid above). Lonnie's site is very well done and well recommended. While there you can see some really neat pictures and read about Lonnie's experiences as a Mousketeer and everything else he's done in showbiz before and since. Tell him BD Bopper sent ya on the Roll Call page!
Oh and any link to or an actualy Youtube video posted here is something I have found while perusing that site. I don't have the ability or know-how to upload a video to the Net. I'm just sharing the goodies I am finding myself during a search.
See ya real soon!

Mouseketeer Lonnie here, Mr. Blogger: Two of the Dixieland 5 you refer to are our pianist (rehearsal and on camera the first year, after it was playback) was Marvin Ash on piano and Jim (?) our prop/sound effects guy on drums.
Lonnie
Thanks for stopping by Lonnie and for adding your own personal insight!
